Open positions available!

We currently have two open positions for doctoral researchers (PhD students) starting on October 1st, 2025:

“Optical signatures of moiré structures in bilayer carbon lattices”

The research focus will be on optical spectroscopy of moiré structures in bilayer carbon lattices and is part of the DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 2861 “Planar Carbon Lattices (PCL)”. This collaborative project with TU Dresden offers a tailored qualification program that includes summer schools, networking, and opportunities to connect with fellow doctoral researchers within the RTG.  For more information and application guidelines visit their website at: https://rtg2861-pcl.chm.tu-dresden.de/joboffer/

“Excitons and phonons at vertical and lateral interfaces in ultrathin semiconductors”

The research focus will be on advanced optical spectroscopy of novel solution-grown two-dimensional semiconductors and their vertical and lateral heterostructures. This position is part of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center CRC 1719 “ChemPrint – the next generation of printed semiconductors: Engineering on the atomic level using molecular surface chemistry”.

For both positions we are looking for motivated candidates with strong background in solid-state physics who are eager to contribute to these research projects in a collaborative academic environment.  Experience with optical spectroscopy and low-dimensional materials, and interest in numerical simulations is desired.

If you are interested in one of the positions, please send an email (with brief information about yourself, but without attachments) to: janina.maultzsch@fau.de
